“Come on, ref!” you say, running over to her. “There’s no way I elbowed her on purpose!”

The ref just looks at you and says nothing.

“It’s not fair and you know it!” You’re letting your anger get the best of you. It doesn’t help that Zoe is standing behind the ref with a sly smirk on her face.

Bao hurries over. You think she’s there to back you up. Instead, she stands between you and the ref.

“Hey,” she says to you, “chill out.”

Bao drags you away from the ref. You can feel your heart thudding against your rib cage. You got out of hand, and you’ll have to deal with the consequences.

Coach Stevens glares at you as you reach the bench. “Arguing with the ref is not how we play,” she says. “Find a spot on the bench and warm it. Your game is done.”

You slump onto the bench. This wasn’t how your first game as a Jaguar was supposed to go. You can only watch as the Badgers come back to dominate the game and win.
